Shield of Faith Economic Development is a community - based non-profit 501(c)3 organization that is focused on providing help to people primarily in and around Pomona, California and throughout the United States.

One of our main focal points is to provide affordable, quality housing to families and seniors in areas where quality dis-count housing is not yet available.

As a community - based organization, we strive to help keep our youth out of gangs and off of drugs. We hope to accomplish this by providing the best possible support to families in a variety of ways, such as parenting skills that will increase family integration and decrease youth crime, drug use and other destructive behaviors. Through these programs, we hope to promote abstinence among young people.

We also encourage cultural diversity and work to promote comfortable relationships between ethnic communities in our city. We will offer cultural enrichment to young people through teaching the arts and creating athletic programs that engage youth in constructive behavior.

In order to help guide our youth, we also hope to offer case work type tutorial and mentoring programs to youth and children in our surrounding cities.

We can also provide an array of services that will financially empower the people we serve through enhanced financial literacy and better financial decisions.

We also encourage entrepreneurial activity and purpose to provide small business loans and facilitate business-incubation.

History of Shield of Faith Christian Center

Shield of Faith Christian Center (SOFCC) began its existence as Bethany Community Church of Pomona in April of 1981. The young church started in a storefront building at 831 W. Holt Ave, with three adults and two children. By the grace of God, the church began to grow, and it soon purchased an abandoned post office building at 140 W. Orange Grove Avenue and renovated it to serve as its church home. By 1989, the building had been renovated a second time, but was yet too small for the growing body of believers.
